Starter: ”Saucy words”

Delicious traditional cocktail tray to loosen the tongues. Ingredients for ”Saucy words” depend on the number of players.

  • Skewers
  • Gouda 48+ cheese
  • Stem ginger
  • Dry sausage¬†
  • Silverskin onions
  • Smoked meat
  • Eggs
  • Luncheon meat
  • Sweet-sour pickle
  • Liver sausage

Cut the cheese into cubes of approximately 2 cm and the stem ginger in 4 parts. Prick the stem ginger with a skewer with the English flag on the cheese and place a number of them in a row on a dish.

Cut the dry sausage  into equal pieces. Take the same number of silverskin onions as you have slices of sausage. Prick an onion and a slice of sausage on a skewer. Put them on the same dish where the bits of cheese are.

Boil 4 eggs in boiling water for 8 minutes. After 8 minutes put the eggs in cold water. Peel the eggs and cut them into 8 parts. Roll a slice of egg in smoked meat and lay it on the dish.

Cut the pickle over the longest side into 4 parts. Roll a slice of pickle in a slice of luncheon meat. Place the pickle with luncheon meat on a dish, so that the edge of the luncheon meat is underneath.

And still to come for the “Saucy words”: the liver sausage. Cut it into slices of about 1 cm and add them to the rest of the snacks.

Main dish: ”The 10 Commitments”

This recipe is easily and quickly made for the murder dinner. The mini burgers are for around 8 people. You can adjust the ingredients to the number of players.

  • 8 mini rolls (with sesame seeds)
  • 250 grams of minced beef
  • 1 tablespoon of breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon of musterd
  • 1 tablespoon of ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon of herbs for minced meat
  • Lump of butter
  • Hand of arugula or field lettuce
  • 4 cherry tomatoes
  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese

Start preheating the oven at 180 degrees. Mix the minced beef, mustard, ketchup, breadcrumbs and herbs in a bowl. Make 8 small equally sized balls from the mass. Make the balls flat by pressing them with the back of a spoon. Make sure the balls are the size of the mini bread rolls.

Melt butter in a frying pan and fry each side of the hamburgers for 1 minute. Put the hamburgers on kitchen paper so that the grease will come off. Then place the hamburgers on a griddle. Cut the cheddar cheese into 4 pieces and place them on the hamburgers. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes until the cheese has melted.

Meanwhile, cut the rolls in half. Cover the lower half with some lettuce. Place a mini hamburger with cheese on top. Slice the cherry tomatoes and divide them over the hamburgers. Cover with the other half of the sandwich and put a skewer in it. Serve with some mayonnaise or ketchup.

Dessert: ”Waffling”

A simple and quick dessert. Powdered waffles with (organic) ice cream with whipped cream and red fruit. Waffling is for 4 people. You can adjust the ingredients to the number of players.

  • 4 sugarflash waffles (pack of 6)
  • 1/2 liter of ice cream (stracciatella, container of 1 liter)
  • Packet of frozen red fruit
  • Whipped cream

Heat the red fruit slowly in a saucepan until it is warm and soft. Toast the waffles in a toaster or in a microwave for 1 minute at 700 Watt.

Whip the cream to a fluffy mousse, add some sugar if you like. Scrape ice cream from the container with a warm spoon. Do this in such a way that it forms a nice ball. Place 2 scoops of ice cream on the warm waffle and garnish with red fruit and a dash of whipped cream.
